Our Story

Starting from Home

Omba Products started as an idea in 2021 while on a family visit to my home community in Northwestern Ontario. Growing up in Wabaseemoong Independent Nations all my life, I was used to what life was like. However, when I brought my partner, Shubham, home for the first time, he was stunned to see the challenges and conditions that Indigenous youth face, and that it is unfortunately, a normal situation to see in many communities across Canada.

After long discussions regarding the problems that many First Nations face, it struck me: What’s stopping me from doing something about it?

And so, together with my partner, we started Omba Products in 2022 to promote Indigenous culture and art through products designed to be durable and used at every occasion. By starting Omba Products, our mission has always remained the same: to donate a portion of our proceeds to schools in First Nation communities in Northwestern Ontario. This will allow for youth to have access to more opportunities to explore the outdoors and their artistic expression.

Cultural Integration

Omba Products is a woman-owned business and we strive to create a culture that empowers capable and independent individuals to pursue their interests. We are passionate about our small business and believe that collaboration and creativity are powerful tools to make our dreams a reality. We encourage you to share what makes you unique.

We appreciate everyone’s unique style and art that adds to our culture. We believe that what makes us different makes us strong. We empower each other to bring different perspectives and experiences to our community.

That is why as an Indigenous woman, I incorporate my culture and values into my business. Together with my partner, we want to show what Indigenous culture and art means to us and how we persevere in today’s Canadian context.

Working with Communities

Each individual artwork is created with the utmost care and love by an Indigenous artist. We seek out Indigenous artists that illustrate stories from the many experiences that we face and inspiration that ignites us. We work to raise awareness and appreciation for the diverse Indigenous cultures that reside in Canada. We hope that in working with Indigenous artists with varying levels of work and style, we can provide them the platform they need to help lift their name and showcase their work.

Being located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, we are proud to be a woman-led, Indigenous business. We are committed to working with Indigenous artists and organisations that allow us to give back to those in need. Our hope is that people can connect with our mission and be proud of what they carry. And most importantly, we hope to connect with YOU.

At Omba Products, we aspire to make a positive platform for Indigenized products that you will love and use in your day-to-day life.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

In 2022, many reports say that Canadians produce about 2.7 kg of garbage per day. In a year, that adds up to 31 million tonnes of waste per year. On top of that, we only recycle about 30% of that material. By 2050, global waste is estimated to be at 3.4 billion tonnes, which will lead to problems globally not only for us, but also the environment.

Omba Products was designed to be durable and long lasting so that you can go anywhere and everywhere with reusable products that remain just as strong as you. We encourage you to help reduce waste production so that we all can provide a safer and healthier environment for future generations. Make the switch to reusable products. Let’s keep our home healthy and strong.
